Children will be awarded a special stripe when they can tie their belts by themselves. You can help them at home. Just use a piece of string, rope, whatever you have handy (about 60" long). Have the child put the string/rope around their waist, the middle of the string/rope in the middle of their backs. Then follow the pictures above. For those that know what a square knot is, that's basically what they're tying.
